I am not new to knee problems and I went to Dr Freeman with knee pain and he knew just what it was, a torn meniscus. He explained everything in detail and suggested we do an orthodcopic surgery. He was very informative and professional. I had the surgery and felt relief right away. The day after sugery I was putting weight on my leg and have had no problems whatsoever. I love JOI and Dr Freeman is now my hero. I would strongly recommend him for any orthopedic needs you have. Great experience.

I have had two knees replaced in the last 4 months. Both experiences were extremely positive! Dr. Carl Freeman and his assistant Wesley Jett are not only skilled, knowledgeable and professional but also caring and patient. The organization within their practice is incredible. From the first visit through the last I was given detailed information and instructions. I knew exactly what was ahead. I only wish I could give them and their staff more than 5 stars. They are exceptional! Gayle Moore

Dr. Freeman and his entire staff are top notch. The care I received from Dr. Freeman was exceptional. My hip replacement surgery went better than I expected. Recovery was quick and I experienced very little pain. I would highly recommend Dr. Freeman. He took the time to explain the surgery and what to expect afterwards. The entire staff are very very responsive and answered all the questions I had. I cannot say enough good things about the experience I had. Thank you Dr. Freeman.

I was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia at age 34 in 2024 after years of unexplained hip pain and chronic muscle tension. The orthopedist in Sarasota that diagnosed me recommended I try delaying an eventual hip replacement surgery via physical therapy and injections, but thankfully also mentioned a periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) as a potential solution. I found Dr. Freeman when searching for PAO specialists in Florida, and decided a consultation with an expert on the procedure was worth the drive from Sarasota. Dr. Freeman immediately validated the pain I was in, thoroughly explained hip dysplasia and the PAO procedure (I’m a patient that asks a lot of questions!), reviewed my imaging to determine I was a good candidate for the procedure, and we did my right hip PAO in December 2024. It was amazing to realize that the constant pressure I’d felt in my right hip joint for years was gone at 4 days post-op. The PAO recovery is tough, but Dr. Freeman and his team were supportive every literal step of the way. My left hip was too damaged by the hip dysplasia to be eligible for the PAO, so we did a THR on my left hip (alongside the screw removal for my right hip) in October 2025. Realizing that the arthritis ache was gone at a few days post-op was equally amazing. I’m now 2 months post-op THR and 12 months post-op PAO, and I feel better than I have in years. Chronic pain takes over your life, and I can genuinely say that Dr. Freeman has given me my life back. I highly recommend Dr. Freeman and his team at JOI, they made a yearlong process of surgery--recovery--surgery--recovery as smooth as possible and I am incredibly grateful!

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Freeman and his team. I spent several years sidelined by increasing pain, limited mobility, depression, and weight gain. I had 3 hip surgeries last year (2 arthroscopies and a replacement), with no complications whatsoever along the way. Only 2 months after hip replacement, I am walking 8 miles/day, road biking, and strength training with zero pain. Rather than trying to survive each day, I wake up full of energy and look forward to living life again. From the first office visit through every surgery, his team was compassionate, patient, and genuinely cared about helping me get out of pain. I'm so grateful and would recommend Dr. Freeman and his team to anyone!

Carl Freeman, MD is a highly skilled Surgeon who specializes in hip preservation surgery among other areas of expertise at the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute and Baptist Health, Jacksonville, Florida. He came highly recommended to me by Dr Don Carr, M.D. Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine, Jacksonville VA1 Clinic. Carl Freeman, MD successfully conducted surgical procedures on me of a right total hip arthroplasty via direct anterior approach with autograft of the acetabulum. This right hip replacement surgery was long awaited due to the fact that my pain and discomfort prior to surgery hindered my ability to walk, to only 1 mph, whereas, I used to be able to run 5 miles every other day. Prior to surgery, I was in constant pain and discomfort due to arthritis triggered by injuries sustained during my military service. In addition, I had right hip pain, right hip labral tear, which, also formed a large acetabular cyst. Although I have medically retired from serving my country in the United States military, this hip replacement surgery was long awaited. Carl Freeman, MD demonstrated care, compassion, expertise and professionalism applying necessary hip replacement surgery to ease my pain and discomfort. I will always remember this episode in my life and am very thankful! May God Bless Carl Freeman MD and his entire medical team!

My experience with Dr. Carl Freeman and his team was extremely favorable. I had a total hip replacement and the outcome was very successful. I felt very confident going into the surgery given Dr. Freeman’s expertise with my condition and his detailed explanations. His entire team was very helpful and responsive throughout the process. I am so glad I decided to have the surgery and definitely recommend Dr. Carl Freeman.

After interviewing 5 orthopedic surgeons I choose JOI, specifically Dr C Freeman for my full knee replacement surgery. I respected his background, experience and his demeanor. I am a super high risk patient with multiple cancers. Dr Freeman was available and coordinated with my oncologist. I am 3 months post op. I have full range of motion, and am performing a large range of physical activity which became impossible pre surgery.

Dr. Freeman has been an awesome doctor. He reviews imaging and goes beyond the initial report, explains everything carefully, and cares about his patients during recovery from surgery. We appreciate him, truly!

I highly recommend Dr. Freeman for partial knee replacement surgery. He performed my surgery this year and the results are great. My recovery time was 8 weeks, my pain is gone, and I am back to doing my regular activities and exercises. His staff is very professional, too.
