First time visiting Café Bernard and I was fascinated. I ordered a tuna sandwich which was delicious. All the flavors feel like home, it’s a place I would definitely visit again. The place and the atmosphere are very warm. If you want a good breakfast don't hesitate to visit it will be worth it.

Waited a long time to order. Ordered an omelette with crab, and eggs Benedict with ham. Omelette was fishy and soggy. The extra side of toast (one slice for $3.12!) was burnt. The eggs in the Benedict were overdone (yolk was hard!?!) and the hollandaise was too lemony. All on an English muffin that was never crispy. Brewed coffee was brown lightly flavored water. Avoid.

Party of 4 went in tonight for a friends bday 6pm on 1/21 I Ordered sparkling rose (cava) to start for a drink and it came out completely flat, server tried to convince me that’s how it’s suppose to be…didn’t want to argue so.anyways moving on cheese fondue there was enough cheese for about 5 dips. Then it was done, fire was so hot it burnt the cheese and we were scraping it from the bottom. No we did not let it linger, we attacked it right away. Ordered pork chops and lamb shank for entrees. They gave us and osso bucco instead of the bone in pork chop. Server tried to convince us it was the pork chop. We looked at the menu together and clearly they were different with completely different sides as well. She realized those were 2 different dishes and admitted to confusing the two of them said she would fire up the pork chop right away which she did. 10 mins later the pork chop came out, completely rare in the middle actually cold in the middle so we ended up just boxing it up, we will deal with that another day. Ordered 2 tiramisus, brownie and spumoni for dessert, 1 tiramisu came out fine the other was warm and soupy, very weird. Brownie was fine, ice cream was half way melted when it was served. We never got the spumoni they ended up giving us the La Bomba dessert, completely different not sure how that got messed up they don’t even sound similar. Cute restaurant with some potential, definitely needs some work. The food that came out that was correct was tasty. 1 miss is fine, 2 misses I could probably overlook. 4-5 misses? I don’t know, would you go back? We tipped our server and didn’t really complain because it was our friends bday and we didn’t want to cause a scene but as a fellow food service worker, experiences like this would be alarming. We tried to be as accommodating as possible but hopefully management/ownership takes this feedback and acts on it. I sincerely hope our experience was an anomaly. The server was polite and very apologetic throughout the whole experience. There was 3-4 other tables, total of maybe 14-16 covers that night so definitely not too busy.

I ordered the French toast made with the home made baguette. I received a hamburger bun cut in half. I have no problem ordering something else if a restaurant rums out of something but to serve me a hamburger bun dipped in egg was just ridiculous. Service was also terrible, my girlfriend had to get up and ask for another mimosa after our server took the order and brought drinks to the table next to us and never looked over. We were both servers and were trying to not be rude but there was 0 service being provided.

One of my favorite restaurants to eat breakfast, lunch or brunch in the Roaring Fork Valley! They have a large dynamic menu, I highly recommended checking out their sides menu, a lot of little gems to compliment your main dish or to share with your party.

What an amazing hidden restaurant- cafe in the middle of downtown historic Basalt. Love this little restaurant. I went for brunch and had me the trout. And wow!! It was incredible tasted so good and I can’t imagine the other plates in this menu. The wine selection also was amazing and I enjoyed myself in this little cute cafe. Come in early because it gets very busy during brunch time.

I absolutely loved Café Bernard growing up when it was still owned by Bernard and I still love it now. I was a little worried at first the new management would make changes, and they have, but I think it has all been for the better. The spirit and character of the restaurant have remained (even their no cell phone use policy). I would particularly recommend any of the baked goods and pastries. They are all spectacular. I also really enjoy the smoke trout hash and the steak and eggs. For those complaining about the speed of the service, I would like to remind them that this is a tiny family owned restaurant and often only has one waitress and one chef on staff. All food is made to order, so if a bunch of people walk in at once, it’s gonna take a minute. This is a small town Café not McDonald’s be patient and respectful. Part of the reason this place is good is because of the ambience, sit back and enjoy it.

I've been going to Cafe Bernard for five years and although ownership has changed and they no longer serve morning buns😣 the atmosphere is the same and the food was good as well. Very cute and the patio is a nice option as well. Service was cheerful and attentive.
