Looking for metal supply Miami-Dade contractors trust? Don't lose money on the classic tube vs. pipe error. While they look similar, they are measured completely differently, and mixing them up is the #1 reason parts don't fit together.
๐น Pipe is for Fluids: It is measured by the Nominal Pipe Size (rough ID) because itโs designed to carry water or gas. A "1-inch pipe" is actually larger than 1 inch on the outside!
๐น Tube is for Structures: It is measured by the Outside Diameter (OD). A "1-inch tube" is exactly 1 inch wide.
If you buy pipe trying to build a frame or a telescoping pole, standard fittings won't work, and one piece won't slide inside the other correctly. You end up with a sloppy fit and wasted material. Always ask for tube when you are building things, and pipe only when you are moving fluids (or making specialized handrails).
We stock both, but we want you to buy the right one the first time!
