Building with aluminum in Miami’s climate? Avoid these 3 project killers. We’ve seen hundreds of repairs come through our shop, and they almost always trace back to one of these three fundamental errors.
🔹 1. Under-Sizing (The "Looks Good" Trap)
Just because a profile looks sturdy doesn't mean it can handle the dynamic load. A gate might hold its own weight fine, but what happens when a 50mph wind gust hits it? Under-sizing leads to sagging, bending, and eventual fatigue failure.
🔹 2. Wrong Material for the Environment
Miami’s salt air is aggressive. Using standard carbon steel near the coast without heavy-duty galvanization or powder coating is a recipe for rust within months. For coastal projects, Marine Grade Aluminum (5052/6061) or 316 Stainless Steel is non-negotiable.
🔹 3. Poor Fastening (Galvanic Corrosion)
This is the silent killer. Using stainless steel bolts on aluminum sheets without plastic washers or isolation paste causes a chemical reaction that eats the aluminum away.
Build it once, build it right.
