It’s Raccoon Baby Season in Ontario! 🦝
Did you know that March is the peak of raccoon mating season in the Brantford and Hamilton areas? Female raccoons are currently scouting for warm, quiet places to raise their kits—and unfortunately, your attic is their #1 choice.
Raccoons don't just "visit" your attic; they move in. They use your insulation to create a nest and can cause significant damage to vents and shingles to get inside.
The Danger of "DIY" Removal Right Now
If you have a raccoon in your home approaching spring, there is a very high chance there are babies (kits) involved.
• The Mother's Instinct: If you seal a mother raccoon out, she will literally tear your roof apart to get back to her young.
• The Risk to Kits: If a mother is trapped and relocated, the babies are often left behind to starve in the walls, creating a much bigger (and smellier) problem for you.
How We Do It Differently (The Humane Way)
At Brothers Wildlife Removal, we use a specialized process to keep families together:
1. Hands-on Extraction: We carefully remove the kits by hand.
2. The "Baby Box": We place the kits in a weather-protected, heated release box near the exit.
3. One-Way Doors: The mother exits through our professional one-way door, finds her kits in the box, and moves them to one of her pre-established backup dens.
Protect your home and the wildlife. If you hear scratching or chattering, don't wait for the damage to spread.
