Sometimes big box stores sell more affordable versions of plumbing appliances and fixtures than what your licensed plumber may select for you. Remember, less expensive isn't always better. For example (see photo), a lot of box store water heaters have drain ports made of plastic, while your Brooks Plumbing will provide you with a heater equip with a brass drain port direct from the manufacturer. A brass drain port on a water heater is generally preferred over plastic or galvanized steel because brass offers better durability, corrosion resistance, and flow capacity.
