Compassionate Euthanasia for Behavioural Reasons- A Gentle Reflection by Dr Sarah Hardman
At Brisbane Pet Farewell, we understand that love sometimes leads families to decisions they never imagined having to make. While euthanasia is most commonly associated with physical illness, injury, or advanced age, there are situations where an animal’s emotional and behavioural suffering becomes the central concern.
For some families in Brisbane, behavioural euthanasia becomes part of a deeply thoughtful and heartbreaking conversation about safety, wellbeing, and quality of life. These decisions are never made suddenly or without care. They are made after months or years of support, consultation, and hope for improvement.
My role is not to judge, it is to support families with compassion, clarity, and dignity when they need it most.
