Not Guilty of DUI Second Offense!
Earlier this week we defended – and won a not guilty verdict for – a client who had been charged with a second offense of Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
The case went to a jury trial in Fayette District Court. After a one-day trial, the jury deliberated for approximately 30 minutes before rendering a verdict of “Not Guilty!”
When entering the courtroom that morning, the client faced the possibility of up to six months in jail and fines of $350 to $500. They also could have been required to participate (at their expense) in a treatment program for one year, plus fines, service fees and court costs. In addition, they would have lost their driver’s license for 18 months and could have suffered loss of reputation and a conviction could have had implications for their employment. Finally, they would have carried a criminal record for DUI for 10 years.
We’re proud to have won this case and realize there are many others who need help, either with DUI or other charges.
