An Unforgettable Family Adventure with Borneo Overland My husband wanted to do something different with our kids, and that’s how we discovered this incredible tour by Borneo Overland. From the very beginning, the experience was exceptional. My husband contacted Ron Wong, the owner, who patiently explained everything in detail and made us feel confident and excited to join the trip. There were only five of us on the tour, which made the experience very personal and comfortable. We were split across two classic Land Cruiser 60 Series 4x4s, ensuring plenty of space and safety. A crew member accompanied us in our vehicle throughout the journey, giving us peace of mind at all times. To make it even more special, my husband drove the Land Cruiser himself—an unforgettable experience for him. One of the highlights was the Kundasang campsite. Waking up to a clear, breathtaking view of Mount Kinabalu was simply magical. The campsite setup was impressive—rooftop tents fully equipped with bedding, sleeping bags, pillows, and lights, offering a perfect balance between authentic outdoor adventure and comfort. It was truly a lovely and memorable camping experience. The itinerary was very well thought out, allowing us to explore Sabah’s diverse landscapes, from lush jungles to stunning waterfalls. Every day felt exciting yet unhurried. Food deserves a special mention—because it was outstanding. We had a master chef following the trip, preparing hot, home-cooked meals for us daily. Hot drinks were always available, and every meal showcased the best of Borneo’s local flavors. Sharing meals, rice wine, and laughter with the crew made us feel incredibly welcomed—like we were part of one big family. The crew handled everything seamlessly: setting up camp, cooking sumptuous breakfasts and dinners, and taking care of all the packing, cleaning, and logistics. A huge thank you to this amazing crew: Gregory, Ray, Bonnie, and Romero. Special mention to Bonnie and Romero, our dedicated chefs—every meal they prepared, especially at the campsite, was a treat. Ray deserves a very special mention. He was with us in our car throughout the trip and was absolutely fantastic. Ray was an excellent guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly attentive. He shared so much information about Sabah’s history, culture, and landscapes, making the journey even more meaningful. He also took many beautiful photos for our family, capturing moments we will treasure forever. His guidance, patience, and genuine care truly elevated our entire experience. We were also deeply touched by the thoughtful surprise for my husband’s birthday—a cake stored in the Land Cruiser fridge, brought out at just the right moment. It was such a kind and personal gesture that meant a lot to us. It’s clear that Ron Wong and his entire team go above and beyond to create the best customer experience possible, through exceptional food, service, attention to detail, and genuine smiles. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique, safe, and unforgettable adventure in Kota Kinabalu. This trip gave us memories that will last a lifetime, and we wouldn’t hesitate to travel with Borneo Overland again.

Was camping at Bundu That, the views of Mount Kota Kinabalu and surrounding hills are magnificent. It was a lovely experience camping on top of a hill, dinning with friends under the stars and sleeping is the open. The beds are also comfortable, well- equipped with bedding, sleeping bags, pillows and lights. It was a really lovely camping experience. And every crew makes the whole experience special and memorable. Roger and Danny are very helpful crews. The rest are also warm and friendly too. Thank you crews.

I had a great time on the 3 day KK expedition with 8 others. We were split across 3 Land Cruiser 60 series 4x4s. The Kundasang campsite was amazing, with a clear view of Mount Kinabalu to wake up to in the morning. Food was amazing, thanks to the work of the crew Frendsy, Mansah and Gregory. Activities involved white water rafting, hiking and swimming in waterfalls. These were a great way to break up the driving and cool off.

The 3D2N Kota Kinabalu Borneo Overland Expedition Trip exceeded all my expectations. From the very beginning, I was impressed by the meticulous attention to detail and preparation from wrapping vehicle seats to providing thoughtful amenities like personal toiletries, wet wipes etc. Ron Wong, Roger and Gregory, along with the entire crew, displayed exceptional professionalism in planning and ensuring our comfort throughout the trip. Despite challenges like the power outage on the first night, the team worked tirelessly in the wet weather to set up tents and prepare meals, showcasing their dedication. Special appreciation goes to Denny, whose boundless energy and impressive photography skills helped capture memorable moments for us. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this well-organized and unforgettable journey! It truly 5 star service and I strongly recommend Borneo Overland to anyone seeking exciting outdoor adventures.

The 3D2N Borneo expedition was a very well run & organized adventure. I would highly recommend this package to my friends! Have not driven a manual 4x4 jeep before and our instructor Gregory was very experienced and patient in guiding us. He made the whole trip really fun & was always checking on us. Any requests we had, was always acceded. The whole crew, Roger, Gregory, Ken, Danny, the 2 chefs were a joy to travel with. They were ever so attentive and super pro-active. Things were done for us without us asking and always making sure our environment was safe and comfortable. Thank you for making this trip so memorable for all of us. Did a 7D6N expedition with them early April 2025 and I absolutely loved it. As someone who normally does free-and-easy trips, my expedition with them really showed me how worry free and enjoyable a tour should be. All I had to do was to choose the expedition I wanted, flights and show up. The crew handled meals, activities, unforeseen circumstances and even my driving 🌚 so well. Our 3D2N overland trip through Borneo was nothing short of spectacular! From the misty mountains to the meandering rivers and welcoming local community, every moment was a new adventure. The itinerary was well-organized, allowing us to explore diverse landscapes, including jungles, stunning waterfalls, and serene mountains (Mount Kinabalu). Highlights included spotting water buffaloes in their natural habitat, rafting along the river, camping under the myriad of stars amidst the tranquil mountains in Sabah. The crew including Roger, Denny, Kelvin and others were incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about the local customs and traditions, cooking for us and being very helpful in navigating tough terrains of rivers, mud and gravel via Land Cruisers. Their enthusiasm made the journey even more enjoyable. Accommodations ranged from car roof top tents to safari beds in tents, always offering a balance of authenticity and comfort. The meals were a delightful mix of local flavors, ensuring we tasted the best of Borneo’s cuisine. This overland journey is perfect for nature lovers and adventurers seeking an immersive and enriching experience. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to discover the heart and soul of Borneo!

The group bonding throughout the journey was truly special and the thrill of water rafting and the fun of hiking and playing at the waterfall made the trip even more memorable. I was especially touched by how you managed to plan our lunch while hiking with us - a perfect blend of adventure and care. The delicious home-cooked food was a highlight, and the warmth of the crew joining in to share rice wine and laughs made me feel so welcome and at home. Your effort in fulfilling our special request for bananas did not go unnoticed and made the trip even sweeter! The adrenaline rush of speeding up the muddy slopes showcased your expertise and added to the fun, while the breathtaking scenery left us in awe. The only minor hiccups was the missing pillow, but your quick backup plans made it all work perfectly. Such thoughtfulness and preparedness speak volumes about your dedication to ensuring our comfort. First time camping after decades…first time in Sabah…first time with Borneo Overland. My friend Gloria and I absolutely love our driver, Gregory - he’s very experienced, kind, humble, thoughtful and professional. Many occasions he went the extra mile to take care of us - example setting up a tent for us so that Gloria didn’t have to climb up. He’s always there to make our experience memorable! 🤩😍 The tour leader Roger is a chill,,charismatic and responsible person with his natural and fun-filled talent of authentic narrative of the journey and sights - we enjoyed every minute listening to his instructions and calm voices! 😂😂😂. The culinary crew Galvin and Neil did an amazing job getting delicious meals for us. I absolutely love the traditional Sabah meal on the 2nd day! I didn’t like the Thai Tom Yum hot pot on the first day - too many fish balls…although the saving grace was the homemade meatballs - they were yummy! I had suggest to replace the Thai Hot Pot (which doesn’t event align with the theme/culture/geographic area) to a Korean Army’s Stew or even a simple meal of an assortment of instant noodles with egg, luncheon meat, cheese, tomato, some greens so the participants could make their own “Instant Noodle” meal. That would be a lot more fun… The other support crew Cik Su - the only lady driver, she helped me on the day we went to the waterfall as it was slippery and I almost fell twice. Then she gave a great recommendation for a physiotherapist for Gloria when she pulled her muscle from the boat ride. The other 2 crew members/drivers Denny and Frenddy were excellent drivers and team players too. Overall a very cohesive team! Highly recommended Borneo Overland for travelling to Sabah for your next wilderness expedition! 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
