In October and November of 2024, Blue Rhino Fence teamed up with the Spruce Landing Strata, the City of Vernon FireSmart team, and Ryder Ventures Wildfire and Flood Protection Services, to remove a large hedge that caused a near fire disaster earlier in the year, and replace it with some high-quality privacy fencing in both two-tone vinyl and corrugated metal and chain link. Now that Vernon and the surrounding areas are coming into fire season, the City of Vernon is pushing this FireSmart initiative and encouraging all stratas and residents in the North Okanagan to do the same.
