After owning the home for a couple of years, it was decided that it was time to sell and move on. The homeowner decided to call the septic service provider that had been used by the previous owner for a number years to handle the presale inspection. Good idea right?
During the course of the inspection, there were a number of longstanding issues that were found that predated the current owner. Imagine his surprise when he was handed a report that stated his septic system had failed!
He rushed to get a repair designed and reached out to every septic installer in Snohomish county. Only one read the presale report and thought, "that's funny. Why is the septic doing that? We need to find the cause of the failure."
The cause: the previous septic service provider installed a bootleg "repair" that caused more issues than it was intended to resolve. And they did a second repair, that while not requiring a permit, was done incorrectly and it too failed! And then there were the wiring issues...
Long story short, we were able to correct the damage caused by the previous service provider. We also contacted the county health department who reviewed the situation and chose to refund the permit fee.
All told, by simply taking the time to listen and put forth the effort to find what truly needed done, we saved the homeowner thousands...
