Black Widow Chimney

I purchased a new home with a storm damaged chimney and a dirty outdated fireplace that hadn’t been cleaned in over a decade. I sought out several quotes for the work the house needed but many did not return my calls after seeing the job. Some vendors even told me repairs were not possible due to the age of the home (1994), and that my only option was a new fireplace appliance. Black Widow Chimney, on the other hand, didn’t even flinch at the job. Cameron and Patrick were very professional and explained what needed to be done to repair the chimney. A custom chase cover would need to be crafted to replace the damaged one, and a compatible chimney cap would need to be found or a custom one would be made to replace my damaged one. The missing vent ductwork that was blown away during the storm also had to be ordered. Once all the components arrived the work was completed in two days (see attached pictures). Cameron cleaned the chimney of all the debris and upgraded the fireplace to a gas appliance with a remote start. Everything was function tested and I could not be happier with the results. Cameron and Patrick clearly know their craft and take pride in their work. They even patched few holes left in my chimney from pests, free of charge. I can't recommend Black Widow Chimney services enough.

Black Widow Chimney Sweeps came for an inspection and chimney sweep. They gave me an inspection and cleaned our chimney to having it looking like new. They were quick to come, the next day after I called, and did a thorough and wonder job in all areas. I was totally satisfied with their work. They stayed close to the estimate I was quoted and did a great job all within a couple of hours. They took great care to keep the inside of my home clean as well. Very satisfied with their work and would recommend them to anyone.

This is the second time I’ve used Black Widow to do maintenance on my two fireplaces and on both occasions the guys have done an outstanding job. Very professional, obviously know what they are doing, and always on time. I’d highly recommend them for any fireplace maintenance or repairs you may need.

I wish I could give this company more stars but I just feel like they really took advantage of me and reading these other reviews they seem super shady. I paid for a level one inspection and based on their recs, they gave me an estimate. They came out the next month and did what they needed to do. They assured me my fire was going to work well and it was safe. When I went to light a fire, smoke filled my house and was not going up the flue at all. It was really terrifying. After reaching out to the company they told me would be happy to come out for another $250. They said since I didn’t get a level two inspection they couldn’t do anything without it. So basically I paid $1,500 based on their recommendations but still needed another inspection?!? I would never recommend this company.

Looking to replace a cap for a closed off chimney. This company is based in Homewood, 2 miles from my house, but the guy said that the City of Birmingham is out of their service area.

This is a great company, very professional and very friendly. They kept me updated on events and arrival. The one thing I most admired is they cleaned up everything after the job was complete. This is something I have not had happen in a long time. I highly recommend this company. Their values and Customer Service is something like no other company has possessed in years. I wish I had read these reviews before hiring Black Widow to do an inspection on our new home that had 3 fireplaces and we wanted to make sure they were 'wood' ready. After raving about the skill level of the mason that built these fireplaces in 1986 they still came up with several issues that had to be dealt with including cleaning, to the expense of OVER $5,000. We were appalled at the price because we do have some knowledge of masonry. Had someone else come out who said our fireplaces were good to go...did not even need cleaning as they did not appear to ever have been used for wood. I've never had a bid before that I thought was almost criminally high!

Had a great experience with Black Widow Chimney. They converted the fireplace from had to wood burning, added a natural gas starter, and repaired the chimney cover. They were courteous, quick to respond, and did a great job. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.
