'Built in Gutters" also known as "Hidden Gutters" is a built in gutter system that is composed of rubber membrane built in to the wood roof structure and under the shingles then tied behind the wood fascia boards. The rubber EPDM membrane comes in straight strips along the roof and overlap at corners usually caulked with sealant to prevent water from leaking into the wood underneath. These seals usually wear down with time and water will be slowly leaking in before you even know it. By the time you can visually see the damage, the chances are there is more damage elsewhere. Be sure to have your hidden gutters inspected and repair to prevent future damage to roof or even foundational.
