Ramesh was my prompt Family Health Insurance customer for until 2024.
Ramesh said one thing in 2025.
“I’ll renew health insurance next year" because his employer had given him and his family including parents 20L coverage.
He was 41. Fit. Busy. Responsible. The year passed and he felt safe until he got the bad news.
One evening, his boss called him from the office and said due a customer escalation and financial loss , 3 employees including him were terminated without notice.
When he came home and inform his father about this, his father [age about 82] had collapsed suddenly out of shock.
Immediately he was rushed to hospital and doctors declared
emergency surgery.
Bill estimate: ₹2.2 lakhs.
Hospital said : “Pay advance now.”
Ramesh stared at his bank balance.
Savings meant for daughter’s school.
Emergency fund gone in one swipe.
Credit card next. Loan after that.
Surgery successful. Father safe.
But peace? Gone.
That night his wife whispered,
“What if it was you?”
Silence answered.
Next morning, Ramesh bought health insurance, Not because he was sick.
Because he finally understood:
Medical emergencies don’t wait for “next year" and since he was out of his job, his employer insurance coverage was not available.
When we helped Ramesh take a new health insurance covrt his father could not be included in the new Insurance plan because of the newly hit PED [Preexisting Illness] - the recent stoke and high BP.
