Baseer Oriental Rugs

My experience with Baseer has been nothing but superb -- because of his professionalism, his focus on serving his clients, his talents and the quality of his work, and his reasonable pricing. It all started when Basser answered his work phone at 9pm on a Friday night two weeks ago (I had planned to leave him a message). He took my info and called me back the next morning, as arranged. When Baseer came to my home the following Monday afternoon, we focused on two rugs - a small silk handmade Turkish that was in need of deep cleaning only and a 50-year old, 9’x14’ green and ivory Indo-Chinese medallion rug. This rug was severely and unevenly faded, had damage on a small border area due to resting under a heavy upholstered chair, a few 1-inch “pock marks” in ivory areas of the rug, and badly "eaten-up" and uneven fringe. . He worked with me on an approach that would bring the large rug back to life - stunning and “whole’ but, per my preference, showing small imperfections of age. And would keep the price in a range I was willing to spend at this point in time. After showing me some interim pictures post-repair, I realized it would be insane not to spend a little more to re-fringe the rug. Both rugs were back on my floors the following Monday afternoon and laid down by Baseer and his lovely wife, Veda. Already, I’ve gotten several “ooohs and aahs” from the small number of people who have seen the rugs. Baseer left last Monday afternoon with one more rug - a Chinese English Garden woolen runner that hadn't been cleaned since I bought it in 1991/92. The pictures Baseer sent this morning, after it was cleaned, show such bright colors that it almost looks like a different rug. And it also like new, since he also re-fringed it. In addition to being a delightful individual, Baseer is very knowledgeable and talented (he does some of the detailed color restoration himself). He loves his work, has a sharp and artistic eye, and believes that he does well when his work makes his customers happy. All this at very fair and reasonable prices. What more could I ask for?

The owner, Baseer, is welcoming and quite knowledgeable about quality rugs from around the world. I was struck that he seemed more interested in providing details about the rugs and their history rather than just making a sale. There is a rug in his inventory for every taste, and I left a very happy customer with three rugs that instantly transformed my living space. Delivery was smooth and Baseer followed up to ensure that I was satisfied with my purchase. I wish I had come across this store sooner rather than spending hours looking online from store to store for the perfect rug.

I took three Persian rugs to this store for cleaning. Two came out fine, but one was returned with ripples (see picture). I left the rug on the floor for a few weeks hoping the ripples would settle, but they did not. I asked Baseer to take a look and fix the issue, but he denied that the rippling had anything to do with the washing—which is simply not true, as the rug was perfectly fine beforehand. He then charged me an additional $175 to “fix” the rug, but he was unable to do so. The rug still has ripples, and now it is also stretched out of shape (see pictures). When I confronted him about the poor quality of work, instead of taking responsibility, he repeatedly accused me of lying, raised his voice, and even said he never works with people of my background and nationality. This was despite the fact that I had already paid for his poor service and was only voicing a legitimate concern about customer service. To be fair, Baseer’s prices are reasonable, but that is probably the only positive thing about his business. Unfortunately, the rug in question had deep sentimental value for us, and now it has been ruined. All he did was accuse me of lying while charging me for services he did not properly deliver. Absolutely terrible customer service. Stay away at all costs.

Baseer did a great job restoring my 30+ year old silk rug. Baseer replaced the fringe on both ends, repaired a corner and deep washed the rug. I would highly recommend Baseer.

Walked in and Baseer was immediately friendly and listened to what colors I was looking for in my new rug. After many beautiful options shown I found my perfect rug! The price was very reasonable and in addition he provides a plethora of other services for rugs. I will absolutely be bringing in some damaged rugs that I currently own for repair and cleaning. Highly recommend Baseer and his business! We have purchased several high end rugs from him and have used them to clean and repair several rugs. Baseer is extremely professional, responsive, very friendly and customer centric. For our last purchase, Baseer brought multiple rugs to our house, some that we identified on line and others that he selected and recommended based on his review of the house spaces. He patiently moved furniture and laid out each rug to help us assess each option. There was no pressure to buy the most expensive rug but rather he concurred on the best option for the home. Baseer is very personable and trustworthy. We will continue to use his services for future rug purchases! He also owns a charming store in larchmont which is a wonderful venue to view some of his beautiful inventory. But he also has optionality to source thousands of rugs which can be brought to his shop or to a home for viewing. Highly recommended!

My experience at Beseer Oriental Rugs beat all expectations. Beseer was knowledgeable, friendly, and had plenty of inventory in my size. The quality of the rug I purchased was really high, but it was still more affordable than many on market that were not as good. I love the rug in my space. We just moved to Westchester from NH last month; we’re watching our son’s dog and whoops, last week we needed to quickly find someone to clean one of our brand new rugs (plus two small older ones.) In my search, I found Baseer Oriental Rugs right away; I saw his strong and positive customer reviews as well as helpful info about his products & services, and many photos of rugs available (for when we are ready to finish setting up our new rental home.) I called and Baseer was helpful and friendly over the phone - he gave me advice over phone about best way to clean the rug until he could get here, and came to pick up all 3 rugs by 6pm that same evening. As promised, Baseer is delivering the rugs back to us tonight, in time for Christmas (the quick turnaround comes at no extra charge.) And for us, paying extra for pickup and delivery is well worth it. We can’t wait to see how they turned out - not only the new one but especially my gramma Mabel’s small persian rug that’s 90 years old. Highly recommend Baseer! So glad to find him - Tami R.

Baseer has been taking care of my beloved carpet since I bought it in 2007. He’s cleaned it thoroughly (and charges the same rate per square foot as then!), picks it up and delivers it back. Recently, it was soaked for a couple of weeks as an aftermath of a condo fire. (The cleaner that the condo board hired insisted that they should clean it although I requested baseer). It was returned from the condo’s cleaners dirty and stained. I called in baseer who looked at it and pronounced that I should get my money back! Baseer has had it for about a week and he sent me photos of my rug’s condition. The “permanent” stains are gone, the rug looks fresh and beautiful again. I can’t recommend baseer highly enough. If you value your carpets, have baseer take care of them. You will not regret the decision!

Baseer performed magic on two of our expensive, silk rugs that had suffered through dog throw up and our cat using one as a scratching post. They cleaned and repaired them , restoring them to near new condition. Their work was truly miraculous. Service was friendly, quick and fairly- priced to boot… Happy to recommend Baseer for rug revitalization!!
