I am not one to post about things like this but I had enough. I made the mistake of hiring Ballard's Construction in Long Beach. Keith the owner is nice but VERY unprofessional! He promised to build our deck in a week when hired in August and he took months to do it. He had many excuses when he wouldn't show up but we gave him the benefit of the doubt. The only things we asked was to have it done by the holidays since it was taking so long, that it's structurally safe, and done right. We haven't been able to enjoy our backyard since August😡 He refused to come back and finish it because according to him his job was completed in October. The floor is starting to flex and the deck is falling apart. 2 days after installing the rail, it broke. If it was done properly, this should not be happening! I will let the recent photos speak for themselves. These are just some of the issues. This is not right! My husband asked for his builder's license and he never gave it to him. We looked him up on CSLB and he doesn't show up. Buyer beware!

Keith did an excellent job changing our unusable "backyard" space into an incredible relaxing area. Took his time to make sure it was safe, level and aesthetically pleasing. Brought multiple samples to ensure the color we wanted. I would hire his company again.

Terrible experience would never hire this guy ever again or recommend him. He really doesn’t know what he’s doing. He hires people from Home Depot no offense with Home Depot guys but the guy said he got didn’t know what they were doing there for the deck start falling apart. I told them we were done he could make anymore Repairs because I didn’t want him around our property. We had to hire a legit contractor that cost me another $14,000 to redo the deck. Keith was way over his head on this job. in fact, he underbid it, so do not use this guy. He’s horrible.

Revised review: Keith came out and was friendly, took measurements and information and quickly gave me a quote, but I never ended up working with him because he never responded to my request for his contractor license # and clarity on the quote. His price was so good that I felt like I needed to ask Keith to confirm the price and what it included. To me his lack of response was unprofessional. My advice to all consumers is to ask for a contractor's license number and take the time to look them up. He might do great work and his price may not have been too good to be true, but I will never know because we did not end up working together and he never bothered to get back to me by text or email. I tried both. He also told me he never booked out too far and liked to take 1 project at a time and that he would be available to start within 2-3 weeks (possibly less). Mainly I asked about the footings because there are 11 of them that needed to be demoed and replaced. He may just be a genuine and fairly priced contractor from Georgia, I will never know, but SOME contractors here to compare ask $1000-1500 a footing. he listed 1 so that also confused me.

I had a brand new deck built and I am in love with it. Ballard’s construction did an outstanding job!
