I really don’t like writing negative reviews, as I understand the impact they can have on a business. However, I had a genuinely disappointing experience with this company, and I feel I’d be doing others a disservice if I weren’t honest.
I came in with a problem, ended up paying far more than I intended, and left with the exact same issue—only worse. My computer had been blue-screening occasionally (1-3 times a month) before I brought it in. After getting it back, it began blue-screening 2–3 times a day.
I eventually did my own research and discovered the issue was a bad driver. A simple fix that took five minutes and cost nothing. Once I updated the driver myself, the problem stopped.
Communication throughout the process was unclear and at times felt condescending or evasive. I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt, especially considering the many positive reviews. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe I unknowingly irritated him. I’m not sure why my experience was so different, but it was frustrating and expensive.
I wouldn’t recommend getting repairs here, but if you choose to, please protect yourself with the following steps:
- Request a written estimate or invoice by email before any work is done. Do not accept a verbal estimate over the phone. Review the breakdown to make sure everything makes sense.
- If you're told your computer has a virus, ask for the "ESET scan logs". He is using an antivirus software named ESET to determine if there was a virus. These logs show exactly what was detected. In my case, no logs were saved or reviewed. When discussing this with an experienced cyber security professional at my job, he found this very strange and concerning. Without these logs, there’s no transparency or way to verify that you had a virus on your computer.
- Don’t let them upsell you on ESET. You can buy it directly from ESET's website for much less and use it across multiple devices.
- If they tell you that hardware needs to be replaced in your computer, request the original hardware back beforehand. This helps you confirm that replacements were actually made.
I’ve taken the loss on this experience, but I hope sharing it helps someone else make a more informed decision. And if you're like me—someone who isn’t super tech-savvy, don’t be afraid to do some research first and try to diagnose the issue. It might feel overwhelming, but it can save you a lot of money and stress. I was inexperienced, handed my computer over too quickly, and agreed to the repairs too quickly, and that was a mistake on my part (which is why I gave two stars instead of one).
If this is your first time dealing with a repair, I hope you can learn from my experience and advocate for yourself more confidently than I did.
