The worst doctor experience I've had in my life. First visit: I was hopeful going in, Dr. Scumpia is definitely an educated woman who knows her stuff, but it was very cold and rushed. I was grateful I could get my labs on the spot though. I wanted to DISCUSS getting on an insulin pump for the first time ever, she forwarded me along to the Diabetes Educator. Second visit: visiting the Diabetes educator was terrible. It was a regurgitation of all Diabetes information you can find in a standard textbook, online, etc. There was absolutely NO listening to my experience, my concerns, my lifestyle, etc. It was very clear they did not want to field any of my questions or concerns, to listen, or to talk about it. They essentially wanted to shove information at me, expected me to just sit there and take their recommendation at face value, and not question anything. They go angry and short with me when I asked any pretty standard questions. Third visit: essentially the same, but with Dr. Alexis Holder. Extremely rude, again just wanted to shove info at me without listening or working with me, my patterns, etc. Made me feel bad for question things, and wanting to talk about what solutions would work for ME. Fourth visit: I got on a pump and Medtronic told me the first training had to be at the office (I honestly wish I could have had it with Medtronic, they were a lot more supportive for the online training). It was with the Diabetes Educator again. It was extremely rushed. She tried to put me on an insulin ratio that would have been detrimental to my health - I had to argue with her, get on the phone with Dr. Holder, and ultimately they put me on the insulin ratio I had to argue for. It would have been detrimental to my health if they put me on the insulin ratio they initially recommended. They rushed me through the visit, didn't have any care for if I was understanding how to do everything - it was again so rushed, cold, just wanted to get through giving me the textbook info without any care that I was understanding things. Fifth visit: this was supposed to be my 1 week post-pump initiating visit, where I also needed to change my set, etc. They were an 1.5 hours late from my initial visit and I had to go to work. When I confronted her about it sitting down, she got angry with me, essentially gaslit me and made me feel bad for confronting her, and then ultimately kicked me out of her office because I told her I'm not going to come back after the visit. Very childish, as though she had to be the one to kick me out rather than me leave post-visit. It was negligent at best, because she knew that meeting was important for me to fully understand the pump, adjust things as needed, and change my set. I had to go home and learn everything on YouTube and do it myself.
THIS OFFICE IS NEGLIGENT, COLD, AND ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT LISTEN TO YOUR ACTUAL CONCERNS AND WHAT IS GOING ON FOR YOU. WOULD NEVER NEVER NEVER RECOMMEND. STAY AWAY!!!
