Dental X-Ray Risk in Reality
Many patients have concerns about radiation exposure during a dental x-ray. But in reality the dosage from a digital x-ray is less than a person receives during a few minutes on an airplane or a few minutes at the beach. Our bodies are also accustom to repairing minor amounts of radiation because we are exposed to radon gas in the air and cosmic rays from space constantly. While it is still in good practice to be conscious of how many dental x-rays a patient receives, the benefit of them far outweigh the minor risk associated with small exposure. At Austin Center for Endodontics we use the KaVo NOMADâ„¢ Pro 2 for our digital x-rays (seen above). Our first and main priority is addressing any concerns you may have about digital dental x-rays.
