1. How to choose the right Projector?
First you must decide if the room is big enough for a projector. A typical distance from where the projector is going to be installed to where it’s going to project to has to be at least 8-10 feet.
Second, if mounting the projector from the ceiling make sure there is no obstruction (Light Fixtures or Ceiling Fan) in the way to where it has to project. The Line of sight from the projector to the screen has to be clear.
Third, are you going to watch the projector during day or night? If during day how is the natural lighting in the room? If the room is bright during day you want to consider buying a projector that is high in lumens around 3300 or more. If room is dark, projector with up to 2400 lumens will be ok.
2. How Much Should I Spend on a Projector?
What are you going to use the projector for? Are you going to Watch Movies and Sports or use it for Business? If the projector is going to be used for home entertainment you should be ready to spend between $500 and $3,000 for a good projector. A good 4K projector could set you back $1500-$2500 easily. Bear in mind that you'll want some money left for your screen and audio setup. You could pick up a good quality, business projector for presentations, for as little as $300, but you should expect to pay a bit more if you want a decent range of features.
