Up until the 1920s small Scottish towns would produce their own "provincial" silver and gold, not assayed officially but rather marked with just the initials of the maker or a town stamp. Now a days, ABDN (Aberdeen), PHEAD (Peterhead) or INS (Inverness, above) are highly sought after.
