❄️ Frost, Water, Condensation — Why It's Showing Up in Your Fridge (and When to Call a Pro)
It’s running, but inside? Puddles, frost, and droplets on the back wall. Sounds familiar?
Over the years, I’ve heard it all:
“Well… it’s a fridge, it’s supposed to be cold, right?”
Sure. But not wet, and not frozen over.
Here’s what might be going on:
🚫 Clogged drain
The drain hole for moisture gets blocked with crumbs or grease. Water pools, then freezes. I’ve seen this in Samsung and Whirlpool — sheets of ice under the drawers.
🚪 Door not closing tight
Worn gasket or something stuck in the seal? Warm air sneaks in, causing humidity, frost, and eventually ice.
One client’s new LG iced over just because of a food package sticking out.
📉 Bad thermostat or sensor
If temps swing between warm and freezing, ice builds up and food spoils. Common in aging GE and Frigidaire models.
💨 No airflow
Packed shelves block circulation. Moisture gets trapped and turns into condensation.
Tip: leave space between items so air can move freely.
🌡️ Room too hot or cold
Fridges in garages, near ovens, or on porches often “sweat.” Sometimes it’s not the fridge — it’s the environment.
If you keep seeing water or frost — don’t ignore it.
