Happy Monday! We're back at it with another free homeowner tip.
This video shows a filter that had been placed incorrectly (backwards), and as a result, the filter itself was being sucked out of its frame. When installed backwards, the fibers won't properly filter the air. This can cause diminished airflow and increased energy usage, which can eventually result in damage to your HVAC unit.
Good filters typically will have a metal screen on the backside to keep them from doing this, or at the very least, cardboard in a diamond pattern like the one shown in the video.
Please remember: this pattern should be facing the backside.
