Samsel/Altura designed our house near Asheville 4-5 years ago and we couldn't be more pleased. They combined our wishes with their wisdom and home exceeded our hopes. Earlier this year, we moved into a new home designed by Samsel Architects, and we could not be more pleased. They transformed our very general requests and relatively modest budget into a beautiful and coherent structure that is well suited to our everyday lives. We are very impressed with the design at every level, from the sensitive siting of the house and its elegant exterior form, to the efficiency of the kitchen layout and the convenient location of handles and switches. The process of designing the house went very smoothly: Samsel Architects listened carefully to our needs and hopes, they gently steered us away from some impractical ideas, and they proposed many clever solutions that we were eager to accept. Because two adult generations live in the house (parents and grandparents), we often had a small crowd at our meetings, but the Samsel team handled all of our interactions with graciousness and good humor.
