We were counting down the days for our lease to end!
Originally we loved our 2 bedroom and chose Altair due to the additional space off of the kitchen for our dining room table. But boy did we make a mistake.
Within a few months our car was wrongfully towed b/c I had a temporary tag on the car, but the vehicle was registered under a previous license plate. This wouldn’t happen if you registered vehicles by the VIN.
Here were my other issues: the walls are paper thin to the point where you can hear your neighbors peeing in the bathroom. Water went out very frequently, pest control rarely came by, valet trash was hit or miss, not a safe area (there was a shootout at the Waffle House as I went out for a run), and there were consistently parties at the pool! They have pool rules in place, but no way of truly enforcing them. The courtesy patrol only comes out if you call them, and is just a check mark for the apartment complex to lower their insurance.
Last, but certainly not least! We have an ESA animal and were still charged for pet related cleaning. We understand that landlords can charge for damages, but there were no damages associated with our ESA. Apparently with any pet they are going to charge you for pet treatment regardless of whether your apartment is clean or not, so goodluck getting any kind of deposit back. We left our apartment cleaner than the condition we received it, and we’ll definitely be notifying the FHA of the wrongful charges!
