Blizzard checklist: How to prepare your home for the impending snow.
With the threat of a major snowstorm hitting our area in the next 24hrs. Here are a few tips to prepare your home for the potential storm.
1. Stock up on food and water. Like rice, beans, pasta, peanut butter, and jelly, powdered drink mixes, trail mix, jerky, instant oatmeal... Just to name a few.
2. Consider Cooking & Easy Food Prep. Move your grill close to the house in case the power goes out and you have an electric stove.
3. Stock Up on Supplies. Like, battery operated radio, emergency cell phone chargers, toilet paper, dish soap, candles, and extra blankets, and a first aid kit.
4. Check your sump pump.
5. Make sure your generator is working and you have gas.
6. Make sure your smoke alarms and carbon dioxide detectors have new batteries.
7. Shovel safely.
8. Walk around your home and make sure things are put away before the snowfalls.
9. Make sure you stock up on snow and ice melt.
10. Protect your pipes.
