If your contractor is installing tiles like seen in this photo, I’ll be the first to tell you that they’re “slapping” the job together. Without standardized processes, this is the quality of work that you will get. Eventually it will all have to get ripped out and redone the right way. As a homeowner and paying customer to your contractor, you have the right to stop and ask questions and do your own research about how processes should be executed and implemented through out the course of each project. We normally wouldn’t engage in a post like this one, but more and more over the last few years we are ripping out brand new bathrooms and we write this to bring awareness and attention to the poor quality standards that some contractors implement. Tiles should have full coverage of mortar on the tile, the globs in spots of the tile was never, and never will be acceptable and more importantly it will never hold up to the test of time. This bathroom is less than 3 years old.
