Tooth sensitivity is unfortunately quite common, and symptoms can range from being relatively mild and short-lived to severe and long-lasting 😣
Tooth sensitivity can be triggered by cold air or foods and drinks that are
- cold
- hot
- sweet
- acidic
So, what causes tooth sensitivity? 🤔
Sensitivity usually occurs when the tooth’s dentine has been exposed. The dentine is the soft layer that is usually protected by enamel, the extra tough outer covering of the tooth.
‼️ If you experience sensitivity for longer that a few weeks, it’s best to ask your dentist to check your teeth to figure out why the sensitivity is there. Sometimes sensitivity is an early warning of a more severe dental problem 🚨
