Heel pain can be a debilitating condition. I have many patients that were very active until they got heel pain and then they gained over 20 pounds due to not being able to do the exercises they need to stay in shape. The pain can be in the back of the heel also known as a haglund's deformity. Or it can be on the bottom of the heel part of plantar fasciitis. Either way when treated aggressively and early one can get better. Most people can get better with custom orthotics , injections and certain types of shoes. Even amniotic injections can be helpful in reducing pain and inflammation. There are also plenty of cases that have failed all these therapies, These people do well with surgical removal of the spur. When performed for the proper reasons these surgeries tend to do very well. If you can not fit into the back of your shoe because of the big bump, come on in for an x ray and evaluation to see what is right for you.
