Wounds can be acute, such as injuries from trauma or surgery, or chronic, such as ulcers caused by diabetes, poor circulation, or infection. Some of the interventions include wound debridement, which is the removal of dead or infected tissue; wound dressings, which provide moisture, protection, and medication; bio-engineered tissue replacement, which stimulates the growth of new tissue; and surgical procedures, such as skin grafts or amputations, when necessary. We pride ourself on educating patients how to manage their wounds at home, and monitoring them for signs of infection or deterioration.
