Advanced Family Dental of Naperville

I went today because my gums felt weird and I usually go to a different dentist, but I came to this one. It was all fine until Dr. Nasima Thobani asked me where I usually go and I told her. She then asked me “Are they Mexican?” Not sure what that has to do with anything… Felt uncomfortable, would not come again.

I wasn’t going to review this place, but if someone can be saved, it would be worth it. If you plan to be a client, do your homework, ask questions, and do not put blind trust into this office. I had heard of practices that require unnecessary dental work, but I hadn’t experienced such a thing until I came here. This place is trigger happy with deep cleanings, something that is not necessary for many people, and was especially not necessary for me. She required it though before proceeding with another procedure, so I did it. An easy charge to insurance for them. The second procedure wasn’t explained until I was in the chair, so I ended up cancelling it and never went back. I went to another, more trusted office, and found that many of the things that were required through this practice were not necessary, one which has altered my teeth and caused years of issues. Please double check, ask questions, and do not put your health into the care of this office blindly.

I came in to have my permanent retainer fixed—it had come loose, and I mentioned this when I booked my appointment. Instead, I was told they no longer do this because of gum health. I understand the concern, but why waste my time having me come in? The dentist then spent an hour pushing Invisalign, telling me it costs $5,000-$8,000. insisting it was my only option. It felt like a sales pitch, not patient care. When I asked about clear retainers, she admitted they could do that but still pushed Invisalign because of my bite. She kept emphasizing how long she’s been a dentist so I would understand and believe her professional opinion, yet she ignored my needs and concerns. I explained that I’m low maintenance and Invisalign isn’t for me, but she kept pressuring me to book the molding for Invisalign before her vacation. After an hour of talking about my gums, bite, and Invisalign, she took an unnecessary X-ray just to charge my insurance. Frustrating, unprofessional, and a total waste of time. I won’t be returning.

Dr. Thobani took such great care of my dad. She was patient, attentive and made sure we understood every step of the treatment. It really gave us peace of mind knowing my dad was in such good hands. I’m very grateful for the excellent care and highly recommend Dr. Thobani and the team!

BEWARE!! DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST! I had a terrible experience with Dr. Thobani. From the start, it felt more like a sales pitch than a dental visit. After a brief introduction, her first question was, “What do you do for a living?” From that point, she seemed more interested in upselling services than in providing genuine care. I came in for a deep cleaning, but she immediately complained that it would take her 40 minutes, as if that was too much of a bother for her. During the entire visit, she commented on how bad my stains were, making me feel uncomfortable rather than addressing the issue constructively. When I mentioned that flossing was difficult because of the tight spacing between my teeth, her “professional” suggestion was to extract two perfectly healthy teeth just to make flossing easier. What kind of dentist recommends removing good teeth for this reason? The cleaning itself was rough and painful, lasting barely 5 minutes. It felt like she was more interested in getting through it quickly than doing a thorough job. Worse still, she repeatedly tried to sell me on additional services, like a $450 mouthguard, rather than focusing on my actual dental needs. My wife also had a similar experience. She went in for her routine cleaning, which our dental plan covers, but Dr. Thobani barely did anything. Instead of the usual care and attention, all she received was yet another sales pitch. If you have Medicaid, I would especially avoid this practice. I felt judged, disrespected, and treated as though my health and comfort were secondary to her sales goals. Save yourself the trouble and find another dentist who genuinely cares about their patients’ well-being.

I went in with extreme tooth pain wanting an extraction. The dentist (Thobani) never even really looked at the tooth or offered any help. She just wanted me to reschedule to get more work done. Left with absolutely no help. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. Steer clear!!

I had lots of work done by Dr Thobani, I saw Dr Thobani first time few months ago when I had an emergency , my front tooth broke with the crown on it after only few months, she agreed to see me almost right away, compared to my previous dentist that couldn't find time for me until late afternoon, so she not only fixed what other dentist messed up but also did it quickly reducing my stress of walking around for a whole day without a front tooth. I really appreciated all she did saving my tooth and crown. She did an excellent job. She also found an infection that I had no idea about and referred me to the endodontist, which I was very grateful for. Dr Thobani has great bed site manners, really knows her stuff, always recommends the best treatment , and explains everything very well. She is very caring. Her staff is also very pleasant and professional. I highly recommend doctor Thobani for all dental needs. I will be back for sure. I am glad I finally found a great doctor. I also prefer small practice over the big dental office because I don't want to feel like I am just a number and that's how I felt with my previous dentist. Dr Thobani is amazing , best dentist I have ever had!!!

Right around the corner from hobby lobby .Dr. Thobani is very professional in her diagnosis. The office is very comfortable . Treatment is yet to come. 5/20/23. I have been in the process of continuing to see Dr.Tobani and over time she is the best dentist I've ever had. She has earned my trust. Nothing is more important than trust when it comes to my teeth 😬 FAST FOWARD: 10/2/25 I have just had another tooth restored. Dr.Tobani is a perfectionist with her work and is standing by her oath when she became a dentist , communication rather than vibration may apply here

I highly recommend Advanced Family Dental of Naperville. Dr. Thobani is excellent! She is professional, honest, very cordial, highly skilled, and informative. No matter what procedure I have she always takes the time to explain the process in as much detail as she can to put me at ease. Most of all, I appreciate Dr. Thobani because she is an honest doctor that cares about her patients. She believes in treating her patients as if she were in the chair herself. For example, in a recent visit Dr. Thobani advised me that she could provide me with services I requested, but it wouldn't achieve the optimal results that I was looking for and provided a better alternative that would give me the results I wanted. So if your looking for a very professional and knowledgeable dentist with great office staff; Then look no further. Make your appointment with Dr. Thobani and her team today!

Dr. Thobani has been a godsend. She has been patient, kind, compassionate, and has treated me like I’m a member of her own family. Presenting me with options for my care, she always has my well-being at the forefront of her services. In addition, her office staff makes payment and financial challenges a breeze— offering various options and payment plans. It’s good to know there are still great care givers in our community.
