The Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Owen Sound released its decision in Baker v. Van Dolder’s Home Team Inc., 2025 ONSC 952. The Court found that the termination provisions in an employment contract were unenforceable.
The ruling means the employee, represented by lawyers from Achkar Law, is entitled to damages based on common law reasonable notice rather than the minimum standards under the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA).
