Deodorising the carpet
1. Baking soda: Sprinkle baking soda over the carpet and let it sit for at least 30 minutes before vacuuming it. Baking soda absorbs odours and leaves the carpet smelling fresh.
2. Vinegar: Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution over the carpet and let it dry. The vinegar will neutralize the odours and leave the carpet smelling clean.
3. Essential oils: Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil to a spray bottle filled with water. Spray the solution over the carpet and let it dry. The essential oils will leave a pleasant scent behind.
4. Enzyme cleaners: Enzyme cleaners are designed to break down organic matter, such as pet urine or food spills, that can cause odours. Follow the instructions on the cleaner and apply it to the affected carpet area.
5. Professional cleaning: If the odours persist, hire a professional carpet cleaner. They have the equipment and expertise to clean the carpet deep and remove stubborn odours."
