DO NOT USE THIS SOD COMPANY – A & B / MIGUEL Working with Miguel has been an extremely frustrating experience. He does not do what he promises, and he does not honor his contracts. We have watched other homes receive beautiful, healthy sod from reputable companies—ours has never looked good, not even the day after installation. People even asked us, “Aren’t you getting your sod redone?” That says everything. Miguel leads customers on, gives excuses, and then blames you instead of taking responsibility. He also offers discounts in exchange for positive reviews, which is why his online ratings appear better than the reality. Please be aware—our experience leads us to believe Miguel is dishonest, and we hope this review helps others avoid the same costly mistake. Summary of Issues 1. Sod Installation Over Weeds Our yard was mostly weeds when Miguel came to give his quote. He seemed knowledgeable and friendly at first and assured us we would end up with a “beautiful, golf-course-looking yard.” He originally stated he would spray the yard to kill the weeds before installing sod. However, when the sod arrived, he changed his story and said he would simply “scalp” the weeds because zoysia is thick enough to kill them. Within days of installation, weeds were coming through the new sod. Miguel sent one person for one hour to pull weeds—clearly not a real solution. 2. Monthly Weed Control Contract – Not Honored Miguel then told us the only way to solve the weed issue was to pay for their monthly service for a full year. We paid for this service, but he did not show up every month and did not get the weeds under control. He now only comes if we text him, and even then inconsistently. He breached this contract by not fulfilling the year-long monthly treatment he sold us. 3. Tree Warranty Not Honored We also purchased a tree from Miguel that came with a one-year warranty—he promised he would replace it if it died within that time. The tree died well within the warranty period, and yet he refuses to replace it. This is another clear breach of contract. Our Requested (and Were Refused) We have asked for: • A refund for six months of the spray service he failed to provide, • A refund or replacement for the sod installation, since he laid it directly over weeds instead of eliminating them as promised, • Replacement or refund for the tree that died under warranty. *Miguel has refused to honor any of these reasonable requests. Final Warning Miguel makes promises he does not keep. Once he has your money, the communication and service stop. He does not honor his written or verbal agreements, and he leaves customers with damaged yards, dead trees, and wasted money. Please save yourself the frustration and expense. Do not hire A & B or Miguel for sod or landscaping services. Reply to Miguel: Miguel you always blame the customer instead of accepting responsibility for your own mistakes. Our yard was full of weeds, and the one thing we specifically hired him to do before laying new sod was to kill weeds and crab grass. He told us he would apply a herbicide treatment prior to installing the grass — something we’ve seen “reputable” companies do throughout our neighborhood. However, he never sprayed the yard. Instead, he called to say he was coming to lay the sod. When we reminded him that he hadn’t treated the weeds, he told us he planned to “scrape” the yard and claimed the zoysia grass was thick enough to prevent the weeds from growing back. We had never heard of this method, but he presented himself as the expert, so we trusted his judgment. Within weeks, weeds and crab grass started growing through the new sod all over the yard. Miguel if you had followed through and killed the weeds and crab grass as you originally promised, we would have a healthy, beautiful lawn today. We chose not to have the yard leveled because it was an additional cost — but that had nothing to do with the weed issue. We relied on him to do his job correctly, and he simply did not. We followed his instruction we have all the texts as proof.

A&B Landscaping arrived promptly, explained why we required much more sod than we expected. We paid $4103.00 for patch work on our yard using 18 pallets. They installed sod and advised me to water 3 times a day and not to mow for 2 months. We followed instructions. After 30 days we contacted them to advise of dead sod issues. We were told to wait 90 days to allow for the sod to take. Time has passed and now we have many dead areas in our yard. We were advised that we cut it too short when we left it uncut for 2 months. See attached photos for examples of their work. It's a shame that vendors don't guarantee their work. Their offer to us is to replace the sod sections at our expense. We were told that his employees cannot work for free
