This review specifically concerns a Corolla Touring Sports, reg FH73 LNY, grey colour, Excel trim, 2.0 litre, first registered in January 2024, with recorded mileage just under 8,000 miles.
I phoned the dealership about this car before travelling from Blackpool to test drive it. I was assured that it was in excellent condition, with no previous issues, a valid warranty, and up-to-date servicing.
On arrival, the car was indeed in very good visual condition, and everything initially appeared to be in order. However, shortly after leaving the dealership, I noticed that the head-up display was not showing the speed limit. Soon afterwards, the infotainment screen prompted a system update (which I cancelled), and not long after that, four warning lights appeared on the dashboard, accompanied by messages stating “System malfunction – return to dealer.”. All of this happened within a couple of miles.
The car has since been inspected and removed from sale pending further technical investigation.
The sales staff were polite and helpful, but it was obviously very disappointing to have wasted time and travel expenses. You could say it was simply one of those things — alternatively, the car should have been more thoroughly checked before being offered for a test drive.
This review relates to a very specific experience, but I would advise anyone considering this particular car to be aware of what happened should it return to the market.
