I learned about the Prelude Bookstore through a book launch of one of my favorite LinkedIn influencers, which was held at the store. I didn’t really have much expectations coming for the first time. I lived through years where the bookstores of my childhood all closed down, with the only one standing in our community being B&N. I love B&N, and make sure to support it. But the nostalgia of the small bookstore never left me.
When I got to Prelude for the first time, I was amazed. It is a beautiful store, tucked into, and I say this with no exaggeration, what looks like Diagon Alley. It is truly enchanted. You walk into a store that is beautifully decorated and organized. It is small and intimate, and at the same time, there is so much to discover.
When I went to purchase my book, I met Abbi, the owner. Let me tell you, she is a special woman. I spoke to her only briefly, but she is passionate about her business and in my case, despite a line of people there for the book signing, she made time to talk to me, tell me about all the events, and give me a beautiful bookmark. That type of customer attention just made my day. When I read more about her biography on the Prelude website, I just feel really happy that she chose to build this in our community.
I plan to definitely to return to Prelude, not just once but many times. I usually go to B&N as a matter of tradition, but for me, I will make my go to bookstore Prelude now. It’s really important to support a small business like this one, which is literally built on providing experience and customer service. And honestly, the book selection is also super unique. It’s as if the owner has specifically curated each text in such an intentional fashion. You will find something (more than one, truly) that glues you in.
Thank you Abbi and Prelude. Like another review mentioned, it’s a business like this which makes you want to stay in your community. I hope the business flourishes and I look forward to being a small part of that story as a supporter.
