Last Thursday (3/20) at 6 pm, I noticed a floor drain in my apartments basement was backing up and flooding the basement. I called the emergency after-hours maintenance line as 6pm is considered after hours.
The maintenance supervisor came out roughly an hour later and left without doing anything (including talking to me).another hour later, the basement was still flooding, so I called the after-hours line again. The maintenance supervisor came back out and told me that since the water level was no longer rising, they were going to leave it overnight, and someone might come by in the morning to check it out. After he left, I went back into the basement, and the water level was still rising (there was an 8" fountain coming out of the floor drain). I called the maintenance supervisor back and told him the water was still rising and that this needed to be addressed immediately. I moved my property out of the storage unit in the basement to a dry location. At roughly 3:30 am (10 hours after I initially called in and 8 or so more phone calls), the maintenance supervisor came back out with a drain auger to clear the blockage.
I am writing this at 9 pm the following Monday. There is biohazard material all over the basement. I have been informed that there are currently no plans to do anything about it. It was suggested by apartment management that I could hire a company myself to have it cleaned up.
It is 30° outside, and I can not turn on my furnance because it has "biohazard material" caked on it, and it makes my apartment smell when it runs.
As of 3/26 the basement has been cleaned.
