I contracted F.B.A. Construction on two occasions: to re-stucco our house in 2021 and subsequently in 2025 to stucco some BY planter bed walls and patch several areas on our house exposed following a side driveway concrete extension earlier this year. Overall, I found the quality of workmanship on the house re-stucco to be excellent (5/5 stars) and have been pleased with the results. The stucco finish is very consistent across the house and has looked really nice. In the intervening 4 years the stucco has held up well with no problems. F.B.A Construction had concerns that where the house re-stucco met the TPO membrane of the roof that there might be issues with it separating, but nothing of consequence was identified 4 years later, when he quoted the 2nd job (and even touched up the 1-2 minor spots of concern for free during the 2025 job). The 2025 stucco job went equally as smoothly and the results look as consistent and beautiful as the house re-stucco, and highly rate the workmanship quality.
Fernando has always been quick to respond to texts/calls/emails (i.e. when inquiring about an estimate, getting dates scheduled, questions, etc.), which I really appreciate. He was also helpful on several occasions with recommendations: recommending a water barrier for the inside of the planter bed wall to give the outside finish the best chance of not deteriorating from bed watering; recommended re-stuccoing a broader wall surface instead of patching a small section so that the 4-year old faded color coat would match; and, providing addresses of houses they’d stuccoed so we could choose the color coat we wanted. All were good suggestions and helpful.
There were a couple minor problems. First, after nailing the metal lathe to the house, the workers failed to clean up after themselves (pet peeve of mine). My son and I found several handfuls of the metal cap masonry nails around the house including our gravel (at the time) side driveway, which obviously could end up in tires (frustrating) or feet/paws (ouch!). Second, prior to base and color coat, the workers pulled the soil/landscaping rocks away from the walls, but it wasn’t put back as carefully/neatly as it had been prior to the job, so that took a bit of my time. I found that Fernando usually underestimated his turnaround time (e.g. quote arrived a week later than promised, job started a week later than discussed, arrived to appointment a bit late), which may be a bigger frustration for others, but for me was minor and resolved by reaching out to Fernando, who was responsive.
I care most about the quality of the end product and the reliability of the contractor. I understand Fernando juggles schedule with numerous homeowners at any given time, which can lead to unforeseen schedule slips. I would highly recommend F.B.A. Construction, having used them now on a couple occasions.
