In 1933, Captain Jay Gould of Hollywood, Florida captured a manta ray, measuring almost 20 feet from wing-tip to wing-tip. Once brought to Ft. Lauderdale, a 20-ton crane was needed to lift the 5,500-pound fish from the water!
