I’m a regular customer and wanted to share some constructive feedback because I really like this place and want to see it succeed. This coffee shop is truly a gem for the neighborhood, and I appreciate the effort the team has been putting into refining the menu over time.
That said, I’ve noticed some recent changes that have been a bit concerning from a customer’s perspective. A basic egg and cheese sandwich is currently priced at over $14, and adding bacon brings a standard bacon, egg, and cheese to over $17. I also noticed that the price increased shortly after it was introduced and promoted as a “local favorite,” which stood out to me as a regular customer.
In my experience visiting cafés throughout Manhattan, this is among the highest prices I’ve seen for such a basic sandwich. While I appreciate the emphasis on high-quality ingredients, the current pricing still feels difficult to justify within the neighborhood context.
I completely understand that opening costs and operating expenses are challenging, especially in the beginning. However, after the initial opening excitement settles, I worry that pricing at this level may make it harder to build a steady base of repeat local customers. I truly hope the shop can find a pricing structure that encourages long-term neighborhood loyalty.
Alongside this, there seem to be some issues of consistency. Lattes can vary quite a bit depending on who prepares them and are sometimes too watery. Bread has occasionally felt stale or dry, cakes have been quite firm, and sourdough portions sometimes appear noticeably thinner than expected. These may seem like small details, but they become more noticeable when the pricing is on the higher end.
I’m sharing this in the spirit of support. I would love to keep coming back regularly, and I hope the shop can find a balance between maintaining quality, consistency, and keeping core menu items accessible for the local community.
