Winter and the roof starts to leak… Just to start the process of finding the right company is a nightmare. It’s a big decision with big ramifications, but we forge ahead. I hate this kind of stuff! I feel so vulnerable.
Anyway, we get multiple bids and of course they are all over the map, but even worse, a lot of these guys don’t seem to care, they are booked out and just going through the motions.
Juan from Happy Valley Roofing comes out and gives us a better feeling right off the bat. Gets up in the attic like a dentist getting all up in your grill. Crawls all over the roof like a banker inspecting a hundred dollar bill. He takes copious pictures. Sees things no one else saw. Knows his stuff.
Juan apologized for his English, but it’s better than he realizes and communication is clear and realistic.
It’s not the lowest bid we got, but way lower than most and includes a lot of repair from deferred maintenance. They also included a little lean-to shed on the side of the house that was not mentioned in the contract.
I run a local business and I’m hyper sensitive to customer service. I understand that as businesses we are part of a community and it is never more true than a roofing company. I take care of my customers, I can buy a new roof. The company replaces the roof, their kids go to college. Those kids become customers.
That’s how community happens.
