I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I think this experience could help others. The contractor was initially responsive and professional during the estimate, and offered a fair price. He explained the work clearly and started promptly. The job (exterior trim painting) was completed late in the evening, so it was hard to see the results. I made this point to him when he asked how it looked. The next day, I noticed areas that weren’t well covered and needed another coat. When I reached out, he said coming back would cost extra—about one-third of the original price. After I shared photos, he offered to return for limited touch-ups “as a courtesy,” but I felt the initial job wasn’t complete. He also did not fill any cracks or holes. Admittedly, these details were not specifically stated in the contract, but was discussed at the estimate visit. The paint brand used was not the high quality brand we agreed on. We ultimately hired someone else to finish the work properly. Overall, communication and professionalism were good early on, but the final quality and follow-up were disappointing. I think this could be a learning opportunity for the contractor as well—to be clearer and more detailed about what “completion” means in his contracts, and what’s included in the quoted price. I’d recommend future customers make sure all those details are written out to avoid disputes later.
