We ordered three dishes for take-out from Yum Bai a few weeks ago: coconut shrimp with steamed rice, fish amok, and fried marinated chicken wings. We always order the chicken wings because our kids love them (their garlic fried chicken wings are yummy, too)! The fish amok was a new dish for us - it was so flavourful and my mouth is salivating thinking about it as I write this review. I would definitely order that again. Yum Bai is owned by a hard working and humble couple, Sarou (a true Khmer) and Nathan, who put a lot of time and thought into their menu and dishes. Their menu, which is available on Facebook, changes every week. If you’re looking to try some tasty Cambodian comfort food, you can place your order on the Uber Eats or DoorDash apps between 11am and 1pm on Saturdays!

I had the pleasure of ordering from Yam Bai Chngang Khmer Restaurant on Saturday! In the winter, I was really excited to try it when I heard there was going to be a traditional Cambodian restaurant opening up in Richmond. It runs out of a commissionary kitchen out of Richmond City Centre, so the food is only available via DoorDash and UberEats on Saturdays between 11am and 1pm. I got the Fish Amok with Steamed Rice, Fried Garlic Chicken Wings and Paak Lauw Mixed Beef, Cuttlefish, Pork Ear with Steamed Rice. I really enjoyed all of the food especially the Fish Amok, it had a nice spice (slightly like curry) that had coconut cream on it. It was delicious! The chicken wings were really flavourful, and the paak lauw mixed beef, cuttlefish and pork ear was really good too! Anyone who would like to try traditional Khmer cuisine should give this place a chance! You can tell that there’s a lot of effort and love poured into your meal! Chef Sarou has different menu items for each week. You can catch the specials on Facebook well in advance!
