It was truly one of the most disappointing experiences we've had.
After collaborating with PTL on and off for a few years, we decided to move our larger orders from another company over to PTL as well. This decision was prompted by our drive from Phoenix to Vegas to tour the facility & by the owner, Justin, who incessantly praised their “best [Trumpf] machines anywhere that make other manufacturers look like a joke.” during our visit to their Las Vegas facility. The initial product samples were impressive, so we approved the full order. However, (after driving a 7-8 hour round trip drive to pick up the fully wrapped pallets with no greeting from staff when we arrived and a forklift putting the product in our truck without the ability to inspect upon returning home), we were met with a large quantity of subpar parts that did not match the quality of the first article sample. We had to invest significant time and money in deburring, grinding, and manipulation to make them usable in our products to sell to our customers, which was an unexpected additional cost. I’ve included a photo showing the first article (top) and how the full order parts looked (bottom).
What puzzled us even more was Justin's suggestion that if we wanted parts of the same quality as the first article, there would be an extra charge. This was contrary to our experience with other manufacturers and vendors who use the first article as a benchmark for the full production run.
While their facility was impressive and well-maintained, the consistent pattern of overpromising and underdelivering by Justin/PTL proved to be a costly and time-consuming disappointment.
It's important to note that none of this reflects on Mason, who stood out as a remarkably patient and capable person.
