Hurn Lodge Kennels and Cattery

We are new to the area so needed to find a new boarding solution for our 5 year old Goldie, Ellie. Went to visit Hurn, and Russell was so welcoming, he showed us around, us meaning me and Ellie - other kennels we visited wouldn’t allow Ellie to look round. It was important to me to see how she initially took to the environment. The kennels were spotless, the dogs there seemed happy and they have lovely spacious paddocks for their good amount of outdoor time. I was very taken to how gentle both Russell and Alice’s approach with Ellie was, she instantly took to them and they are very sympathetic to dogs needs when in a boarding environment. They clearly know and love dogs and have their welfare at their forefront. We have now had Ellie’s trial night and we are so so pleased. Alice and Russell were happy with how she was and we knew by her body language when we picked her up that although she was pleased to see us she kept running back to them.We are so pleased we’ve found somewhere we can leave Ellie and know she’s happy. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hurn Lodge.

From the moment we dropped them off, the staff were welcoming, attentive, and clearly committed to giving the dogs a comfortable, happy stay. We received updates, and it was clear both Coco and Patra settled in beautifully. They came home relaxed, well-cared-for, and full of their usual energy—always a great sign! We would highly recommend Hurn Lodge Kennels 5*. Russell & Alice were so welcoming to Tigger & Annie. They looked after them so well for 10 days. We had updates, videos and photos. Highly recommended them! I recently dropped off my rescue dog there for 5 days, while I was away. My dog was well looked after and from the photos it seemed like she had a wonderful time! Also the staff there were more than happy to accommodate some last minute changes that needed to be made to my pick-up date. I will definitely be using them again in the future!

Joey just had his second stay here and both times came back home much calmer and definitely cleaner than before. He used to cry a lot on his way back home but not in the last two times while staying in Hurn Lodge. We were so impressed! We love how clean and welcoming the reception area is. We love how quickly Alice always replies to messages and most of all we love seeing Joey on the kennel’s Facebook page while we were away. Joey is not an easy dog and Alice and Russell have found a way to make Joey comfortable and safe while in their care. We highly recommend and will always choose Hurn Lodge for future bookings.

I always used Barilla before it was sold, so I was really happy to see that it had re-opened under new ownership and a new name. I boarded my 2 cats for 16 nights from the beginning of December. They were happy and relaxed when I collected them and I would highly recommend.

What a superb cattery. We have two Burmese cats who love attention and hate being away from home. They were in for 10 days. When we collected them, they looked very happy and content. In fact the best they have ever looked after spending time in a cattery. Alice and her partner were brilliant with them. Thrilled with the experience, we would not go anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Our Boxer Winnie has just stayed and we were very happy with the conditions and service. Despite her being fear reactive she settled in and enjoyed her stay and was fine being in close quarters but safely separated from other dogs. She’s snoring away in her basket now. Highly recommend.
