This was the worst detailing experience I’ve ever had.
It will only let me attach photos, but I have several videos to back up this review as well.
I hired this company because I spilled some paint on my passenger-side floorboard and needed it removed quickly. They have tons of 5-star reviews, so I felt confident booking them. I clearly explained the paint situation when I called and they scheduled someone for the next morning.
The detailer showed up 15 min late and then had to leave to put gas in the generator before starting. In hindsight I guess that should have been my first red flag but it wasn’t a big deal to me. After he finished, he told me none of the paint could be removed... so I checked, and the paint looked exactly the same. It was still on the carpet and the metal/plastic parts at the bottom of the seat. I asked “it wouldn’t even come off the plastic or metal parts?” To which he replied “no it’s really painted on there” then I literally scratched the paint with my fingernail and it came right off. (I have a video clearly showing this)
He said his boss would call me to handle payment since they couldn’t remove the paint. No one called.
Then I noticed the rest of the car hadn’t even been properly detailed. The rims were still dirty. There were small crumbs and dust in crevasses, I slid my hand along several visible areas and they were left dirty. Multiple areas were untouched. It looked like I went to a basic $20 car wash
Even though I was annoyed, I figured I’d just let it go since I hadn’t paid, and still no one had called.
I then had to dedicate the rest of my day to getting this done myself. I went to the store, bought a vacuum (which I wouldn’t have needed if they had done the job), and scrubbed the paint using just a kitchen scrub brush, dish soap, and water. After vacuuming it up and doing that a few times, about 85–90% of the paint was gone. In other words, the paint absolutely could have been removed with a little effort.
Even though I was so frustrated that I had to spend the entire day fixing something I hired them to do, I still wasn’t planning to leave a review. Again, I hadn’t paid or received an invoice so I was going to just let it go.
Then a few days later, I received an invoice for $380 plus tip (suggested total around $450).
I called and explained everything, sent photos, videos, and timestamps showing the condition of the car immediately after their service and throughout that same day. After speaking to two different people and providing proof, they are still trying to make me pay $140
To be clear: I hired them primarily to remove the paint and was more than willing to pay for a full detail to get it done. Not only did they NOT remove any of the paint (which I was able todo myself with basic cleaning tools), but the car was not detailed.
I understand that sometimes mistakes happen in business, which is why I gave them the opportunity to handle this privately and make it right. Maybe the detailer was new and untrained? Maybe for whatever reason he didn’t have standard detailing tools/supplies? Instead, they are still attempting to charge me for a service I did not receive + the hassle of doing what I hired them to do…. It’s not about the money, it’s about the principle and making things right.
If you’re looking for a quality mobile detailer, this was not my personal experience.
