My home away from home. I've never been in such a welcoming, safe studio! This is not your average pilates studio, it is something much more special. Each instructor brings their own style to their class, so you are guaranteed to work new muscle groups each class. From the shakes in the workouts to the amazing SHIFT community, this place is true a gem. 💎

Hillcrest is so fortunate to have this inclusive and positive pilates studio! The new studio space is a little slice of tranquility tucked upstairs from the hustle and bustle of University. You can feel the abundance of positivity and gratitude filling up the space as soon as you walk in. If you're new to pilates, this is The Perfect Place to start because it is so welcoming and fun. I've been practicing here for several months, and each class offers a new opportunity to mindfully move, connect with your breath, and impress yourself. The classes are challenging (in a good way), and I always leave feeling accomplished and more connected with mind + body. The instructors are tuned in to the individual needs of each person, and they are so knowledgeable and professional. Shout out to Katie, Tiffanee, Alice, and Isabella who have all found new and creative ways to cheer me on while gently reminding me that my core is supposed to be engaged AND I'm supposed to be breathing. I highly recommend any of their classes! From the variety of class types and times to choose from, to the community of like-minded individuals who practice here, to the incredible staff & instructors.... I simply cannot recommend SHIFT Pilates enough. You're going to love it!

I’ve been attending classes at SHIFT Pilates for a several weeks now and I'm very happy with my experience so far. I felt welcomed by the warm, down-to-earth personalities of the instructors — their genuine enthusiasm and care make the difference. The studio itself feels intimate and thoughtfully designed, and I love that the class sizes remain small so each of us receives individualized attention. I appreciate the mindful, somatic approach the studio emphasizes and they have some unique class offerings that I've never seen offered at other studios. If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just a workout — one where you’ll be seen, supported, and encouraged — I highly recommend SHIFT Pilates.

I’ve been to a decent amount of studios and by far this one feels like home. Everyone here is so nice and welcoming. I have taken most of the classes with a majority of the teachers and love them all for different reasons. The ultimate membership is absolutely worth it as I can pop into any class and don’t have to worry about limiting myself. SHIFT has opened a new world of Pilates for me and is welcoming all people.

Love the focus on somatic connection here at SHIFT Pilates! I took my first class a couple months ago and loved it so much that I coordinated with Ada Herrera to host a Monima Alumni X SHIFT event, and it was such a nice experience! Kat led the class with a welcoming, all-levels approach that felt gentle and accessible. For many of our alumni, it was their first time trying Pilates, and they absolutely loved it. Thank you, SHIFT Pilates for creating such an intentional space, and thank you Ada for doing such a fantastic job building community at SHIFT! We're so grateful!

This is the place to be! Being in my late 50s and sedentary, I was nervous to start Pilates. But the beginner somatic foundations class was a perfect way to get back in touch with my body movement. A year later I’m so much stronger and have moved on to more challenging and really fun classes. I love the calm supportive vibe of the studio and I’m happy to support this woman owned small business.

I'm not new to Pilates but it's been a long time and I just started going to SHIFT but I LOVE it!! I just had a really great class with the owner, Katie, and I also took Kat's class last week, she was really sweet. Can't wait to try all the different instructors and get back into the swing of things. The studio is really cute, clean, and temperature controlled. I don't love that it's upstairs but most small businesses in San Diego are in old buildings that don't have much ADA compliance/disability access, it's not their fault! Perhaps there's an elevator that I don't know about

My absolute favorite studio! All of the classes are different, yet work you in the ways you want and need. I always feel like I get a great workout as well as a nervous system reset. All of the instructors are so wonderful and welcoming. Highly recommend!

I have been going to SHIFT Pilates since it opened …. And must say there has never been a moment that I was not happy! Katie the owner is a true professional and is aware of the body structure internally , externally . There is no competition ( only if you compete with yourself) Somatic pilates is body awareness , and mindful movement this is SHIFT Pilates I highly recommend the studio with a great comfortable community.

I love taking classes at Shift! The classes are always the perfect amount of challenging! I hadn’t really taken Pilates classes prior to coming to Shift, and now I’m hooked! Katie is the best!
