We have eaten in Alsham a few times. It never disappoints! The food is so flavoursome and delicious you can't ask for anything better! Accompanied by a wide selection of freshly squeezed fruit juices which are amazing here. We especially recommend Chicken Shish taouk and Aubergine moussaka. The chicken is sooo tender and juicy. Also the staff is very kind, although sometimes the waiting time is quite long. But the food is well worth waiting! Highly recommend.

I want to start with the service first, it’s incredible. Not only were the staff extremely kind to my family and I but they gave us tea and baklava on the house which made my family’s evening. The food is peak I don’t know what else to tell you. The lamb kofteh is the best thing on the menu if I’m being honest but that may just be my opinion. There’s this garlic condiment that they gave us, it was lovely. I didn’t know the name for it but it tasted amazing. The overall atmosphere of the place is fantastical. It has a lot of Mediterranean decorations and lanterns which really establishes the restaurant’s cuisine the moment you step in. Overall a 10/10 experience in Alsham. Incredible service, food and atmosphere. Definitely coming back here in the future.👍👍👍

I recently had dinner at Al Sham Restaurant in Newcastle and ordered the lamb mandi along with a mango juice. The mandi itself was well-cooked and flavourful, and overall the dish was enjoyable. However, the smoke flavour was quite intense—more than I personally prefer. It felt like the smoking was done very close to serving, which made the smoky taste somewhat overpowering rather than subtle. I also ordered what was described as fresh mango juice, but unfortunately it didn’t seem freshly prepared. It tasted more like mango pulp or a bottled juice poured into a glass, which was a bit disappointing given the expectation of a fresh juice. Overall, the food quality is good, but a lighter hand with the smoke and clearer distinction between fresh and bottled juices would improve the experience.

The food was absolutely delicious! The pita bread was some of the best I have had. The portion sizes are VERY generous. The staff was very nice and the interior decorations were very beautiful.

We had the most incredible afternoon at Alsham near the arena in Newcastle, and I honestly can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we walked in, the welcome was warm and genuine. The staff made us feel completely at home — attentive without being intrusive, and clearly passionate about the food they serve. And the food… absolutely outstanding. Every dish was bursting with fresh, vibrant flavours. The mezze were beautifully presented and perfect for sharing — creamy hummus, smoky baba ghanoush, crisp falafel and the freshest flatbreads. The grilled meats were tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection with that authentic charcoal flavour. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The portions were generous, the prices very reasonable, and the whole atmosphere relaxed and inviting. It’s the kind of place where you go for lunch and end up wishing you could stay all afternoon. If you’re heading to the arena or just looking for genuinely authentic Lebanese cuisine in Newcastle, Alsham is an absolute must-visit. We’ll definitely be back — probably very soon!

Lebanese eatery on peripheral of the city centre, ideal for free parking yet close to the city. Decor was a close resemblance in the traditional style you find in the ME. The food tasted good and presented well with the portion size enough to fill you up. The best part is the staff. Very attentive and responsive. Overall a very good experience and could not fault it hence the 5*.

After reading reviews we give it a go for a new year treat . What a disappointment. Waiting 40 minutes plus additional 10 minutes for the food , it’s ok for good food you can wait but eventually after 50 minutes we got our order and went straight home to enjoy. Unfortunately this is what we ended up with. Very small portions of grilled meat (chicken shawarma missing ) and portion of rice . We ask for chips and rice, unfortunately just rice landed in our order. No salad just some pieces of raw onion. And everything for 35£ go special grill mix for 2 !! This is some kind of joke. We usually order from shawarma on west road and portions are much bigger and waiting time half of that, that’s where we will be coming straight back to ! I’m writing this to let others know who also read reviews when choosing place to eat. Dont know where so many this positive rewiews coming from - possibly sitting in customers because take away food is definitely not worth the price and also not to mention chilly sauce which is basically mixed chilli powder (sic!) with some sort of red sauce. We won’t be coming anywhere near those both restaurants al sham & baba ( 2 different names but same kitchen and staff )
