First, I rarely leave bad reviews.
We reno'd our windows in our 25 year old house and needed replacement black out roller blinds in the bedrooms. Everything went great in the store and during the selection process where they were very helpful. Then the installation happened and everything went to hell in a handbasket...
We had specifically asked for edge L pieces for the black out effect for an nside casing roller blind installation. The installer did not install the side edges places on the casings straight up and down, but angled them outward at the bottom. When I complained, I was later told that was how they are trained to do it. I dont know what planet they get their training from but here in Calgary gravity is down, so when the blinds are lowered there is a wide gap that starts at the top and get progressively wider down the the lower sill (see attached pictures). My wife was pissed as they had screwed those edge angles pieces into the brand new vinyl casings and to move them to be flush to the blind when lowered, it would leave 7 screw holes per window that could not simply be filled and repainted in the virgin vinyl casing. Not only that, but during installation the casing angle pieces were cracked when they drilled and screwed them into the window casing. And to add further grief, those angle pieces have a long and short side, and the installer placed the angles on the bottom sill with the long side upward (i am sure he would say rhat is how ' he was trained,)which prevented the window cranks from being used without wracking your knuckles on the sharp edge when turning the crank.
We have given up on getting the edge pueces moved ro get rid of outward angle and light gaps on the sides and bottom fixed as we did not want the screw holes for the next 25 years. So we tolerated that 'screw up' , and had the installer come back to replace the bottom cracked pieces and install rhem this time turned 90 degrees so the short side was pounting up si we could use the cranks without the handle hitting the lip.
Afterward we were emailed a bill to pay for the service call to repair the botched installation!!!!
After much back and forth they finally agreed to withdraw the bill for the service call to repair a portion of their botched installation. However, when they came to repair/replace the edge pieces , they noticed that there was a pin hole in one of the roller blinds. So they said they would order a replacement under warranty.
I guess I should not have been surprised, but when the replacement roller blind came in, they wanted to charge me a service call to remove and replace the replacement roller.
Despite more back and forth, they are determined to get more money for their botched installation. I work in construction project delivery and have always, and will akways pay for what I order. However, I refused to pay a company to fix/repair/replace what was never installed right/correct the first time. I paid for it to be done right the first time, it is not my problem if they have installers that dont know which way I'd down or how to drill a hole without cracking the material.
So they phoned and left a message saying I could either pay for the additional service call, or i could come in and pick up the replacement blind and install it myself. At this point I am so mad, they can keep the roll.
Stay away as this company only stands behind its products IF you pay for the repeated service calls to actually get it done the way it should have on the first call. They also obviously do not check their materials in the shop before coming out to do installations. And their installer cannot even look at what they did and see the issues they created.
In the end all they had to do was come and replace the holed roller blind under warranty without a service charge and I would have not left this terrible review that will in all likelihood cost them more in lost clients than the cost to come amd remove and replace the holy roller...
A very dissappointed customer.
