Excellent service and taste. If you are looking for an alternative from Scotch food, this authentic oriental restaurant is just the best fit for you. Jimmy Jr. is super welcoming and friendly, greeting every guest and looking after needs from every table, making you feel like visiting an old friend here. The beef&potato, Golden Pork plus rice and Mapo Tofu we had were absolutely delicious. I wish I didn’t have the lunch so that I could order more dishes here!

I can only really give the whole experience five stars based on how everything occurred: We'd just so happened to stop outside the restaurant, on the way to getting salt and pepper chips at another restaurant, but then as we stopped, I immediately saw salt and pepper chips on the menu outside of Jimmy's Express. Within a heartbeat, a server came out, asked us how we are and I mentioned what food I was looking for, and he quite humoruously said, "well, you cannot eat outside, come on in". He took our orders quickly and the food was with us within moments. We were also given complimentary oranges.

While visiting Edinburgh, we were craving something spicy and flavorful – that’s when we discovered Jimmy’s Express, and it turned out to be a fantastic find! We tried the spicy grilled fish in hot pot (Chongqing style) – absolutely packed with heat and flavor, just the way we like it. We also ordered pork fried rice, which was perfectly cooked and so satisfying. For drinks, we had a refreshing Gin & Tonic and an iced milk tea, both were great complements to the meal. What really made the experience stand out was the super friendly staff. One gentleman—possibly the manager or owner—was going around giving out free mandarins to every table, which was such a warm and thoughtful touch. The waitress who served us was incredibly kind and gave us great food and drink recommendations. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, and the location is perfect – right in the heart of the city centre. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic, spicy food and a welcoming vibe in Edinburgh! 🤩🥰🥰

4 times in 4 days – that says it all 😍 Everything I tried was super tasty: steamed seabass, honey char siu, beef brisket, braised pork belly... Big portions and full of flavor! Staff (and the owner!) are super friendly and helpful. If you're craving Asian food in Edinburgh – don’t miss this spot!

Jimmy's Express A few days ago I passed by this restaurant and the staff, who seemed like the owner, kindly invited me in. I told him I’d already eaten, and he just smiled and said to come again. This time I did, ordering fried rice for takeout. It wasn’t busy, so another staff member asked me to sit while waiting. The food came out fast, and the fried rice was tasty.

I highly recommend the place. The food was great. Also, a clean place, a clean toilet and very efficient staff. I have never tried a steamed fish before, but how happy I was with my choice of having the steamed Sea bass with ginger, spring onion, and boiled rice with it. How delicious! I ate it all- no lunch so 1 meal for the day! The staff were so attentive, and you are given a fruit at the end as well. I come from Denmark, so I have not been happy about the automatic addition of a tip in Edinburgh's restaurants- we do not have this American type culture. But the staff for this restaurant deserved it. I hope they keep up the good work!!

I’ve traveled around this city and was craving some soup. I started with a few appetizers and would absolutely recommend this place! The food was amazing and delicious. The staff were friendly and always smiling, and even the manager was very polite. If you’re craving some good soup and delicious chicken, definitely check this place out, guys!

Came upon this restaurant on Wednesday. We didn't get a good reception by two waitresses but there was one don't know her name she was absolutely nice. Anyway we ordered one beef ho fan and two portions of wanton soup. The beef ho fan was delicious but the wanton broth has a funny taste.

This is easily one of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in Edinburgh, and possibly in the UK. The food was authentic, full of flavour, and came in generous portions. I especially recommend the braised beef with potatoes and the spicy stir-fried pork which both were excellent. The owner was warm and welcoming, which really added to the experience. Overall, everything was spot on. An easy 11 out of 10. I’ll definitely be coming back.
